CPSC Recalls 31,000 Prepared Hero Fire Spray Canisters

Around 31,000 fire spray canisters manufactured by Prepared Hero have been recalled because of a risk of rupturing and failing to operate during a fire. The recall, announced Sept. 10 by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, states that the canisters could cause serious injury or death if they’re inoperable during a fire, according to Safety+Health Magazine.

Recall Announcement and Scope

The recall was announced Sept. 10 by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Around 31,000 units are affected. The canisters could cause serious injury or death if inoperable during a fire.

Product Details and Sales

The product was sold under the name Hero Fire Spray on Prepared Hero’s and Amazon’s websites between October 2024 and this past January. The canisters may be red and blue or just red, according to Safety+Health Magazine.

Consumer Actions and Disposal

Consumers should stop using the canisters immediately and visit the company’s website for instructions on how to receive a free replacement. The canisters shouldn’t be discarded in the trash or general recycling because they’re pressurized. Contact your local municipal household hazardous waste collection center to ask if it accepts the product. If it doesn’t, reach out to your municipality for further guidance, according to Safety+Health Magazine.
