Construction Groups Sign MOU for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention

Washington — The Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention and the Construction Safety Organization signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Sept. 24 to coordinate education and outreach on worker mental health and suicide prevention, according to Safety+Health Magazine.

Partnership Details

The agreement was announced during National Suicide Prevention Month. The organizations stated their collaboration aims to help empower the entire industry, per a CIASP press release cited in the source.

Industry Data

Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows the construction industry suicide rate is four times greater than that of the general population. A CPWR analysis found construction workers are about five times more likely to die from suicide than from a workplace injury.
