VSP Vision Launches Engage with Inventory eLearning Simulation
VSP Vision launched its Engage with Inventory eLearning Simulation to help new Altair account executives navigate inventory workflows within the STAR inventory management system. The course enables these executives to engage in inventory-related conversations with eyecare practices. It was developed as a standalone module within the broader onboarding curriculum.
Program Development
The course was built using Articulate Rise and Storyline from the Articulate 360 suite. It follows a show, guide, and test model for long-term learning. In Show Mode, learners view video walkthroughs of key STAR workflows, including identification of slow-moving eyewear frames and their replacement with best sellers, addition of new releases and point-of-purchase items, and creation of frame board inventory and orders. Artificial intelligence-generated narration supported rapid prototyping while maintaining audio quality.
Interactive Components
Guide Mode provides interactive simulations that include step-by-step prompts for decision-making and system actions in realistic scenarios. Test Mode requires learners to complete an assessment with an 80-plus-percent pass score. Immediate feedback is embedded throughout the simulations and knowledge checks. At the end of the course, learners receive a summary of key takeaways and tips. A live STAR expert roundtable and reflection activity follows, where learners present their assessments, receive real-time feedback, and discuss challenges and best practices.
Reported Outcomes
According to Training Magazine, 92 percent of managers reported that new hires showed increased confidence and accuracy in STAR inventory tasks during their first 30 days. Learners recorded a 40 percent increase in self-rated confidence levels from pre- to post-training surveys. Some 95 percent of new hires passed the simulation assessment on their first attempt. STAR order accuracy improved by 18 percent among participants, which reduced rework and improved turnaround time. Practices supported by trained account executives reported a 12 percent improvement in satisfaction with inventory consultations. According to Training Magazine, the simulation delivers targeted training in a risk-free environment before practice visits begin.
